| SHIP'S
LOG
It's June 21st, Summer Solstice. Tradition
has it that a sacrifice must be made to the gods to insure good
weather and fortune for the up coming year. Now seafarers are a
very superstitious and traditional bunch. So, we are keeping a very
close eye on our ladies to insure their safety and to make sure the
traditions of the sea are kept in their proper prospective.
Last night we all enjoyed Casino night. The
03 deck was set up as a floating casino, and there were many games of
chance to be played. The loudest and most volatile game with
money changing hands regularly was the craps table. We had to call
the bouncers out to calm down the action from time to time. In the
end the house lost and students won. All winnings were used to bid
on prizes donated by many different sponsors. Because we had
such a great time everyone went away a winner.
The seas are starting to calm down after a
bit of a bumpy ride last night. For the most part, everyone is
handling it well, but then again this wasn't very bad, and we are
becoming well seasoned seafarers. But, we are having to learn how to
walk without bouncing off the bulkheads.
4th class A company will be finishing up
deck training as will the 2nd class engineers.
