| SHIP'S
LOG
This morning's Revelry call was once
again followed by the sounding of the fog signal as we continue to
encounter patches of heavy fog.
Our D company 2nd class deck students
did a great job in their medical extraction exercise. They were
challenged mentally, physically, and emotionally as they had to deal
with a sever accident in a confined space. We are wrapping up deck
training by placing our students in realistic but challenging
situation where they have to find a solution, and can not give up.
We have to challenge and make the students "take
responsibility for their knowledge." Nobody truly knows what they
know until they have to use the lessons that have been taught.
In the mean time, the bilge party Raved
on in the engine room. Testing the endurance and "slime" index of
the students.
We would also like to congratulate all
the students who successfully passed their Ship Security Training
this cruise. Graduation was held last night on the 03 deck. This is the second class in the nation who completed this intensive
shipboard security class, and it is only offered at MMA. This will give
the students a big advantage in job placement. More
importantly provide them with the confidence and knowledge to
protect their ships and fellow seafarer in the event of a security
breach. This is a new but vital training in today's world. Congratulations; HOOO RAAA
We are now only one hour ahead of Maine
time!
HALIFAX WEB CAMS:
Tomorrow morning if there is no fog you
will probably be able to see TSSOM pass by one of the 1st three WEB
CAMS at this site. If your student is ashore on the waterfront
boardwalk, call his/her cell phone and ask for a live wave from the
waterfront boardwalk web cam which is in front of the Maritime
Museum of the Atlantic.
