| SHIP'S
LOG
We're Back! The TSSOM made land fall
this morning on the North American Continent. The most
important information buzzing around the ship was "How many bars do
you have on your cell Phone?"
It is amazing how dependant we have
become on today's technology.
We took arrival at 0636 on a cloudy cold
day with the sun just peeking over the horizon. Once again assisted
by two tugs, and with the local advise of the pilot, we made the
docking effortlessly. We were welcomed by some of the families of
the cadets and staff. It is always great to see familiar faces
again.
Yesterday, 2nd class C company deckies
had their turn with a confined space emergency, and overcame some
very difficult challenges. The victim survived once again, and there
were many lessons learned through the evolution .
E-squad provided a nice display of the
ship's pyrotechnics.
Today is our first day in our last port,
and the students are off and running. I think they will enjoy this
port.
HALIFAX WEB CAMS:
This morning there was a beautiful view
of TSSOM passing by Chebutco Head Lighthouse Web Cam about 20
minutes after arrival. Later just before 0800 you could see
the tugs back her into the berth. If your student is ashore on the waterfront
boardwalk, call his/her cell phone and ask for a live wave from the
waterfront boardwalk web cam which is in front of the Maritime
Museum of the Atlantic.
The cams are pretty good which means
that the view should be good on sailing day Wednesday.
