http://cruise.mma.edu/2008-external/allcruisepics.zip The big day is finally here after a busy day yesterday. Most everyone has their gear off and the public areas have been cleaned. Inspections start at 0730 and when all is satisfactory the students will be dismissed from Training Cruise 2008, having satisfied their Federal Mandate to complete 60 days with us. Rides have been arranged with classmates, friends and parents and I think most everyone is anxious to be on their way. For the 4/C they will be with us again in 2010. For the 2/C theie next big step is senior year, USCG Exams and out into the job market. There are a few out of sequence students aboard and some of them will finish all their obligations today and a few others are lacking only the Fall semester and will graduate in December. Once again it has been professionally rewarding for us to watch these students mature and gain confidence, to see them step forward and take charge. Their thirst for knowledge at this juncture in life is insatiable, as it should be. Keeping them safe and imparting some pertinent "sea stories" to reinforce their learning is our ultimate goal and we wish them all a safe journey, calm winds and following seas. To all of you who have followed us on our voyage.....THANK YOU. It was truly amazing to see the "hit counter" climbing and surpassing the 100,000 mark. It has been my pleasure to have been able to facilitate our adventure together, not knowing from one day to the next just what sunrise will bring. On behalf of the STATE OF MAINE crew, faculty and staff , thank you for sharing your loved ones with us, we look forward to their future accomplishments.
